Peace Minister Ato Banalf Andualem has announced that the government is conducting an investigation into the recent damage and destruction of some mosques.
The discussion is said to be aimed at finding a common solution by talking closely with the parties concerned about the recent destruction of mosques in some areas. Religious leaders from the Federal Majlis, Addis Ababa Majlis and Oromia Majlis, Addis Ababa City Peace and Security Office Head Lidia Girma, and the Addis Ababa Police Commission were in the discussion. On the grounds that mosques were destroyed in Sheger city of Oromia region, especially in Addis Ababa city, there was an attempt to incite violence on two Friday prayer days. At the discussion forum, Mr. Bnalf Andualem emphasized that any problem can only be solved through dialogue and discussion.
