The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church announced the completion of the preparatory work to hold a discussion with the fathers in the Tigray region.
It will be remembered that the Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, held in May 2015, decided to continue the discussion with the fathers in the Tigray region immediately through the delegation appointed by the Permanent Synod.
Following this, the committee has been carrying out preparatory work based on a plan that will allow the discussion to be held successfully, and the interim administration of the Tigray region has submitted the request in a letter written by His Holiness Abune Mathias I, the Patriarch of Ethiopia, Bishop Zeaxum Wechige, the Modernist Church of Tigray, to facilitate the successful conduct of the discussion.
It was stated that the members of the delegation presented the letter written by the Holy Patriarch to the office of the President of the Interim Administration of the Region and discussed with the relevant officials of the Region regarding the support of the Interim Government of the Region for the success of the discussion.
Therefore, according to the request submitted to the state government, it is said that the discussion will be held at a time and place arranged by both parties.
Accordingly, the delegation of the Archdiocese will make an official statement on Monday, June 5, 2015, in the afternoon about the activities they have done so far and how they can successfully conduct the discussion in the future.
Following the statement, it is said that the issue will be resolved in accordance with the canonical church and that all the changes recorded in the process will be announced in the media.
