Ethiopia’s national consultation will be held in all parts of the country next year, said Professor Mesfen Araya, the chief commissioner of the Ethiopian National Consultation Commission. Fair representation, new operators and associates, and sufficient time will be considered, he said.
The Council of Ethiopian Civil Societies, the Joint Council of Ethiopian Political Parties, the Ethiopian Teachers’ Association, the Ethiopian National Union of Religious Associations, the Assembly of Ethiopian Religious Institutions, District Court Judges, and the representatives of the district (special district) administration were elected through participation. Sections are selected and they are; Self-identified as the main livelihood people, women, youth, opportunity, community leaders/fathers/mothers, civil servants, teachers, artisans, and business community.
Ethiopian National Consultative Commission Chief Commissioner Professor Mesfen Araya told ESA; At the end of the preparation phase, the gathering of the agenda and the meeting of the participants is being done. A procedure has been set up for the 10th stakeholder to bring their own representatives to the shelters where the displaced Ethiopians are located. They said that in the next 10 days, the survey and collection work that started in these areas will be completed.
He also said that if citizens feel that they are not represented in any way, they can submit their agendas to the commission in person, by mail, by telephone, or on the Internet. They said that we understand that he has a firm position to resolve it through dialogue.
He said that a letter has been written to the temporary administration of the Tigray region to discuss the importance and process of the consultation and we are waiting for a response. Therefore, unless there is a difficult situation, the work of gathering and selecting the agenda of participants in all districts including the Tigray region will be completed before the end of the 2015 fiscal year. He said that extensive efforts are being made to conduct the national consultation in all areas of the country.
The commissioner mentioned that each section of the society will send 50 people from each district as participants and up to 700 thousand Ethiopians can directly participate in the national consultation. All sections of the society will elect two representatives for the agenda-gathering activities at the regional and city administration levels. Artists, elders, religious leaders, and politicians. , scholars, including the youth, asked everyone to strengthen the cooperation they are doing for the commission.
